Ditto on commute time slice and podcasting. Every morning I walk out with the dogs to get the paper. (See: Claire's YouTube.) I then go retrieve the morning's podcasts to my Nano for the trip into work. I get far more information from the podcasts. If it weren't for Clyde and Stout, I'd cancel the paper.

Jason - I'd have to say the cons outweigh the pros for me, though threaded would be nice. Kind of amazed that to this day only LiveJournal takes threading seriously, none of the other major blog players do.

I've gotten podcast-happy over the last year or two as well... I wind up listening through much of the workday as I write [code|documents|email].

I tired of TWiT after a few months, but TAL and ASC are always outstanding. (And the All Songs Considered Live Concerts podcast is a motherlode of amazing stuff.) I also strongly second Dylan's recommendation of Coverville. (Hi Dylan!)

My other faves?

WNYC's On the Media.

Harry Shearer's Le Show -- a bit dry sometimes, and the parody sketches / songs can be grating, but hearing Principal Skinner discourse on the day's news never fails to amuse me.

PRI / BBC's The World's Technology Podcast -- a refreshingly non-US-centric set of quirky tech stories.

The New Yorker's Fiction podcast, which features a current contributor to the magazine choosing, reading and discussing a story from deep in the archives.

KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic -- not frequent enough, and sometimes unimpressive, but often a source of great musical discoveries.

And Wait Wait Don't Tell Me is almost as de rigeur as TAL.

There are others, but I've taken up more than my fair share of comment space already...

I guess it just seems a little more conversational...? Although I like the subscription working here well.

Can reply via email, threaded comments... better summed up here... impartially...

Good tips Dylan and Jason.

Jason, what's the Discus (Disqus?) advantage?

Scott - ever consider discus for comments?

Adding to list here I like Weekend America for some general popcorn.

I really like Coverville, which is a well-produced one-man podcast composed entirely of cover music. http://www.coverville.com/

I second the recommendation for Radiolab too -- awesome science show!
